On Sunday Oct. 12, Homestead Miami was awash with was the sights, scents, and sounds of Carnival !!!

 

Thousands of masqueraders, revellers and spectators showed up to the new location.  Food vendors served up caribbean treats to all as the festivities continued after 10:00 PM ! If you missed it CLICK HERE to see some of the action !!!

The 2003 Miami Carnival took place at the Miami Homestead Speedway on Sunday, October 12, 2003 from 12noon til 11pm. The Carnival buzz began in Toronto, NY, DC, Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando and of course in South Florida. From talks about mas bands, costumes, to the Kings and Queens Competition. This spectacular kaleidoscope of incredible costumes, steel bands, calypso, soca, kompas, hip-hop and reggae music brought the traditional West Indian style Carnival presentation with a spectacle of pageantry, color and fantasy. With over 20 masquerade bands and live music from Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires, Imij & Company,  Leon Coldero & Code 868, Groove; La and Visage, the official Miami Carnival 2003 was family event that was not to be missed.

The 3-mile parade will began on SW 336 Street (East of SW 37 Avenue), the energy  continued down West SW 42 Ave, move south to Alex Muxo Blvd and East to Speedway Blvd. After the bands crossed the stage they returned to the route and continue playing mas until nightfall.

 To add to the spice from the Caribbean; the Homestead Grower’s Market will had fruits from the Caribbean such as mangos, guavas, coconuts, five-finger, soursop, sapodilla, chenet, tamarind, tropical flora and fauna. On Saturday Oct. 11, once again, Socafest at Coconut Grove Has Proven to one of the Premier events at Miami Carnival.  Rags, Flags and Powder filled the Air as people jumped and waved to energetic performances by bands like Atlantik and XTATIK.Miami carnival 2003 events Miami Carnival 200

Glowing Beams of Lights, flashing across the MIAMI skies led party goes to "BRASS AND GLOW"  Friday night where thousands of party goers were entertained by the Top Entertainers in Soca.

TRINI SOUTHBOYZ" got things started in Miami on Thursday with the "Dons and Divas Boatride". Featured were Giselle De Wassi One, GB God Bless, Steelie Bashment, and Natural Freaks. The highlights of the night were energetic performances by Rupee and Benjai !!!
